General terms

Welcome to Nordicbunkies.ca. We’re thrilled to help you expand your footprint with a touch of Scandinavian-inspired design. Before we get to the “hammer and nails” part, we need to go over the ground rules.

By using our website and purchasing our products, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Think of this as the foundation of your bunkie: it’s necessary, it keeps things level, and it ensures everyone stays happy.

1. The Basics

These terms apply to all visitors, users, and customers of Nordicbunkies.ca. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time—usually because the law changed or we found a clearer way to say things. Your continued use of the site means you’re cool with the updates.

2. Product Information & Natural Variations

We strive for “picture perfect,” but please keep in mind:

  • Natural Materials: Our bunkies are made of real wood. Like humans, every tree is unique. Small knots, minor color variations, and “checking” (small cracks that don’t affect structural integrity) are natural characteristics, not defects.
  • Scale & Color: Screen resolutions vary. The “Nordic Pine” on your iPhone might look slightly different in your actual backyard.
  • Kits: Unless explicitly stated otherwise, our bunkies are sold as DIY Kits. We provide the pieces; you (or your hired pro) provide the elbow grease.

3. Orders, Pricing & Payment

  • Currency: All prices are in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
  • Taxes: GST/HST/PST will be applied based on your delivery province.
  • Payment: We require full payment (or a confirmed financing agreement) before your bunkie leaves our facility.
  • Price Changes: We reserve the right to change prices without notice (lumber markets can be a wild ride), but the price at the time of your order is locked in.

4. Shipping & Delivery

Delivery is the “heavy lifting” part of the process. Please read this carefully:

  • Curbside Delivery: Standard delivery is “curbside.” This means the driver will drop the pallet(s) at the end of your driveway. They aren’t able to carry the walls into your backyard or help you assemble the roof.
  • Site Access: You are responsible for ensuring a full-sized transport truck can reach your property. If you live at the end of a narrow, winding goat path, tell us before you order.
  • Inspection: You must inspect the shipment upon arrival. If there’s obvious damage, note it on the Bill of Lading (BOL) before the driver leaves and take photos.

5. Building Permits & Local Laws

This is the big one. Every municipality in Canada has its own rules. While many of our models are designed to fall under the “no permit required” size threshold (typically 108–160 sq. ft. depending on the province), it is your sole responsibility to:

  • Check local zoning bylaws and setbacks.
  • Obtain any necessary building or electrical permits.
  • Ensure your foundation meets local requirements.

Nordic Bunkies is not responsible for any “un-building” orders from your local bylaw enforcement officer.

6. Cancellations & Returns

  • Cancellations: You can cancel for a full refund within 48 hours of ordering. After 48 hours, a 15% restocking fee may apply if the unit has already been prepped for shipment.
  • Custom Orders: Any “Bespoke” or modified units are final sale once production begins.
  • Returns: We accept returns of unopened, unassembled kits within 14 days of delivery. However, you are responsible for the return shipping costs (which, for a 2,000lb cabin, is not cheap).

7. Warranty

We stand by our craft. Nordic Bunkies provides a 1-year limited warranty on manufacturing defects.

  • What’s covered: Missing parts, structural manufacturing flaws, or hardware failure.
  • What’s not covered: Damage from improper assembly, lack of staining/sealing (you must protect the wood!), extreme weather events, or “acts of God.”

8. Limitation of Liability

Nordic Bunkies will not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use our products. We provide the kit; the safety of the assembly process and the finished structure is in your hands.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
